history of the National Museum
Founded by an Act of the First Congress of the Republic on July 28, 1823, the National Museum of Colombia is the oldest museums in the country and one of the oldest in America. For nearly two centuries has been devoted to the preservation and dissemination of evidence representing cultural values of the nation.
It opened its doors on July 4, 1824, when Vice President, General Francisco de Paula Santander was declared officially created. The National Museum was initially installed in the Botanical House, which housed the natural history collection compiled by José Celestino Mutis and tended their disciples, with the passage of time these pieces were added others of an archaeological, historical and artistic.

EL MUSEO DE ARTE COLONIAL
El Museo de Arte Colonial de Bogotá (Colombia) fue inaugurado en 1942 en un edificio del siglo XVII que, entre sus antiguos usos, había sido Biblioteca Nacional y sede de la Universidad Javeriana en el período colonial. Se encuentra ubicado en la Cra. 6º No.9-77. El museo exhibe pinturas, tallas en madera, muebles, joyería, libros y documentos de la época colonial (1492-1810). Una de las colecciones más importantes del Museo de Arte Colonial consiste en 76 pinturas al óleo y 106 dibujos de Gregorio Vásquez de Arce y Ceballos, uno de los pintores más importantes del Nuevo Reino de Granada.

Colonial Art Museum of Bogotá (Colombia) was inaugurated in 1942 in a XVII century building, among its former uses, was the National Library and home of the Universidad Javeriana in the colonial period. It is located in the Cra 6 º No.9-77. The museum displays paintings, wood carvings, furniture, jewelry, books and documents from the colonial period (1492-1810). One of the largest collections of Colonial Art Museum is at 76 oil paintings and 106 drawings by Gregorio Vásquez de Arce y Ceballos, one of the most important painters of the New Kingdom of Granada.

La ciudad de Bogotá capital de la República de Colombia, es uno de los principales destinos turísticos del país. A pesar de no contar con playas ni clima tropical, Bogotá es una metrópoli que cuenta con diversas actividades culturales y es sede de importantes eventos de nivel internacional; la ciudad también ofrece una amplia variedad de restaurantes de comida internacional y sitios especializados en el esparcimiento nocturno, destacan igualmente sus parques, museos, centros comerciales y su arquitectura.
